This is the Remote Work Life Business Spotlight, where I highlight top remote business innovators and share personal and career development tips to help you navigate the world of remote work. I'm your host, alex Wilson-Campbell. I help remote work managers, professionals and freelancers overcome isolation and uncertainty in their life to get hired and fulfill their career goals. So here's another quick overview or review of another 100% remote business for you, and this time we're looking at Tortuga. And Tortuga make travel backpacks, day packs, duffels, etc. Some really stylish looking bags, actually, some pretty simple designs, but I'm sure they're very durable, etc. And pretty lightweight, and I think that they're actually focusing on people, on travelers, because obviously that lightweight aspect is going to be something that um is going to be appealing. But yeah, they they're a business that's fully remote um, and if you go here, they talk about who they are. They give a lot of information in terms of the actual benefits of working for them. Obviously, they sell backpacks and travel packs and day packs, but they talk about their story in quite a lot of detail here.

Freed from an office, you work where you're most productive and live where you're happiest. This is all about them and their ethos. Becoming location independent isn't easy, but we can help. We've done it already and because they were established back in 2009, so an established business that's been going for quite a while now, and here you see the co-founders. I mean it doesn't really give too much in terms of the kinds of people that they hire. Remote work is the first step to location dependence. So we built Tortuga as a fully distributed company. Our team works remotely and lives all over the world, and here's a team right here, a small team, but they built something and that's only going to get better if they continue to grow.

So talk about working on your terms. Scratch your own itch. Prioritize the customer. That gives you a clue in terms of the kinds of people who they may hire. Build and improve systems Again, software and systems. That's another clue as to the sorts of people that they hire.

At the moment, at the time of filming this, they're not hiring, but, as I said, all of this gives you some clues as to who they might hire and it may be worth, even though they're not hiring at the moment Tortuga, it may well be worth keeping an eye on them and perhaps even dropping them a line if you feel that any of those kinds of things, ie systems and customer service are things that you would get involved in, and obviously they're going to be doing marketing as well for their bags, and what they say here is if you go here, you can get a job alert when that comes about. So that's Tortuga for you, another fully remote company, and I think, if anything, if nothing else, I think it's good to at least start to familiarize with yourself with a list of, say, 10, 20, 30 of these types of businesses and do your research in terms of what's what you like, what kind of business you like, whether it be product or a service, whether it be I don't know in Europe or in America, ie where they're located, for example. It's good to do the research even though they're not hiring, because then, once they are hiring, you'll be in a position then to launch your application, whether that be for a job or if you're looking to perhaps be hired by them as a freelancer. Then you'll know everything that you need to know about them in advance of any sort of opportunities coming about. So that's my quick overview of Tortuga Backpacks. You can get them at, or you can reach them at, tortugabackpackscom and have a look at Tortuga.
